Mark, thanks for writing. I have the rain cover and the winter kit. I have used the rain cover a couple of times. I don't use it much because I have to take off the visor and the blinky light to put it on. (The shield has holes in it so you can put the visor back on over top of the rain cover.) Also, I am not crazy about the dark color (visibility). Furthermore, my ride is short enough that I don't usually need to wear a rain cover -- my head doesn't get too wet.

All that said, if you need a rain cover, it's probably worth buying -- it fits the helmet perfectly (doesn't look ridiculous) and does the job fine.

As for the winter kit, I used the earmuff parts last winter and might use them again this winter. They are an OK product -- but by themselves, they will not keep your ears warm below about 25 degrees. I do not find the plugs for the helmet holes useful. All in all, I'd recommend using the money to get a good balaclava.

Is the rain shield a valuable accessory for this helmet? It costs about $15. There is also a winter kit.
